Water sharing between Central Asian countries has been conflicting for quite a long time already.
Irrigation canal to be built in South Kyrgyzstan
The 60 km long canal will be built to improve irrigation of three areas in South Kyrgyzstan, KyrTAG reports on Friday with reference to Director of Project Institute "Dalboor", Asraridin Kichibayev.
"The project is named as "Irrigation development of the Nookat and Aravan areas in Osh region and Kadamjain area in Batken region based on use of Isfairam-Say and Abshir-Say rivers' flow " and the cost of this project is several billions soms ", Kichibayev said.
As he mentioned, the establishment of the canal will take up to 10 years and will be done stage by stage. It is also planned to create 20,000 work places.
"Establishment of this canal will increase watering of the 35 hectare land being already in use as well as seven hectars of new lands, that are not is use because of the lack of water. The establishment of the canal will increase the watering from 40 percent to 80 percent", Kichibayev mentioned.
