Khorezm irrigation canal repairs planned in Uzbekistan

The Uzbek government plans to perform more than US $144m (285.6 billion UZS) of repairs on Khorezm Oblast irrigation canals starting this year with the help of the Islamic Development Bank, the Uzbekistan National News Agency said January 9. The work on almost 83km of canals will improve almost 144,000ha of irrigated farmland and the water supply to more than 225,000ha, the Uzbekistan National News Agency said. The project is expected to take four years.
