Tajikistan raises question of reasonable water use in Central Asia at OIC summit

Tajikistan Minister of Foreign Affairs Khamrokhon Zarifi attracted attention to reasonable water use in Central Asia during the summit of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which finished on February 7.
Question of reasonable water use is the key one on the agenda. Water use in Tajikistan will not negatively influence on water flow to lower reach countries.
Dushanbe is ready to hold talks on questions of engineering and technical water use.
Tajikistan Foreign Minister called summit's participants to be actively involved in international conference devoted to water questions, which will take place in Dushanbe in August.
Communique of the OIC summit, New Challenges and Expanding Opportunities, included article, where country members are called for participation in the events dedicated to the International year of Water Cooperation.
Khamrokhon Zarifi also mentioned the realization necessity of a new railway from Dushanbe to Herat (Afghanistan) which will help to widen trade and economic relations, improve investment climate and provide food security.
Minister of Foreign Affairs also held talks with his colleagues from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Azerbaijan; he discussed prospects of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
