Uzbekistan, U.S. to continue cooperation in ensuring peace in Afghanistan
Uzbek Foreign Minister and U.S. Secretary of State stated their intention to continue cooperation in ensuring peace in Afghanistan.
According to the U.S. Department of State, Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry made this statement at a briefing on Tuesday.
"During our negotiations, we are going to exchange views on the state of our bilateral relations and our cooperation in political, economic, and humanitarian areas," Kamilov said.
Secretary of State Kerry said that Uzbekistan is providing very, very important help with respect to the distribution network of aid to Afghanistan, and they are involved, happily, in some very important infrastructure construction projects, a railroad into Afghanistan and major electricity power provision, U.S. Department of State said.
As it was previously reported, the Uzbek delegation led by Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov will hold negotiations with Secretary of State John Kerry and other officials on March 11 - 13.
During the negotiations, it is scheduled to discuss the state and prospects of Uzbek-US relations and important international and regional issues.
